Singuang Village of Guanmiao District, Tainan City, can be divided into 4 minor settlements of Nanliao, Beiliao, Yaogousi, and Sucuohu. Both Nanliao and Beiliao were known as Gongli in earlier days. The area was geographically delineated by Susian River. Yaogousi and Sucuohu is lo-cated in peripheral areas with higher elevations. Yaogousi can be further subdivided into Shangbi and Siabi. Pineapple fields are mostly located next to the pond.
As the agricultural society gradually declined, only a number of old de-crepit houses and empty plots remained in Singuang community, which became an increasingly lifeless hamlet. Singuang Community Develop-ment Committee was established in July, 2009 in order to transform these dying villages and create a new future and vision for the Singuang Community according to the principles of People-Centered Development with Land as the Primary Concern and Water as Support. In addition to encouraging transformation of existing farming practice, the Singuang Community Development Committee was also committed to overall construction and restoration of the rural villages. Life was re-introduced to empty plots, old residences, and abandoned fields to invigorate and revive the area.
