(The ancestors have passed away,
leaving their ancestral shrines and houses to mark their deeds.
Prestigious ranks show their achievements, with many good acts per-formed by charitable households.)
Precise location descriptions:
* The ancestral house of the Fang Clan is over two centuries old and lo-cated at Dongshi Village of Guanmiao. It is a famous traditional house registered in Tainan City.
* The founding ancestor of the Fang Clan in Taiwan hailed from Jhangjhou of Fujian Province and first arrived at Taiwan during the reign of Ming Emperor Chongjhen. The ancestral shrine of the Fang Clan was first constructed during the reign of Cing Emperor Cianlong by a relative who attained the rank of Jinshih (advanced scholar, a rank in the Impe-rial Examination system and candidate of the courtly exam). Hence, the shrine was known as Taiwan Fu Dongmen Chengwai Siangyang Fangjia Jinshih Di (the house of a Jinshih Scholar of the Fang Clan at Siangyang, Outside the East Gates of Taiwan Prefecture). Given the immense prestige and influence commanded by the rank and the loca-tion of the house at the eastern side of Tainan Prefecture, the local ham-let was thus named as Dongshih Village (Eastern Force), a name still in use to this very day.
* The house is a one-story Siheyuan courtyard, with distinct phoenix-tailed roof ridge stretching beyond both sides.
* The descendants of the Fang Clan also achieved the rank of Suijinshi (another title for the Gongsheng or Siucai rank), and acquired the plaque of Chaoyuan during the reign of Cing Emperor Guangshu to commemorate the achievement of this particular clansman.
* Another plaque read Yisiang Shanshi (charitable household of the vil-lage) was made during the reign of Cing Emperor Cianlong to highlight the charitable deeds and acts performed by the Fang Clan. Another plaque reading Demen Jicing (charitable clan and gatherer of good for-tune) also proved that their good deeds were well received by the local residents.
